Al-Farahidi
Al-Farahidi was a prominent Arab linguist and lexicographer, born in the 8th century in Basra, Iraq. He is best known for his foundational work in Arabic grammar and phonetics, particularly through his influential book, Kitab al-Ayn, which is considered one of the first dictionaries of the Arabic language.
His contributions laid the groundwork for future studies in Arabic linguistics and helped standardize the language. Al-Farahidi also played a significant role in the development of Arabic prosody, which is the study of poetic meter and rhythm, further enriching the literary tradition of the Arab world.
