Airway Obstruction
Airway obstruction occurs when the air passages in the throat or lungs become blocked, preventing normal breathing. This can happen due to various reasons, such as choking on food, swelling from an allergic reaction, or the presence of a foreign object. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, wheezing, or a feeling of tightness in the chest.
In severe cases, airway obstruction can lead to a lack of oxygen, which may result in unconsciousness or even death. Immediate medical attention is crucial. Treatments may involve techniques like the Heimlich maneuver or the use of bronchodilators to open the airways and restore normal breathing.
