Aircraft De-icing
Aircraft de-icing is a crucial process that ensures the safety and performance of airplanes during winter weather. Ice and snow can accumulate on the wings, tail, and other surfaces, affecting the aircraft's aerodynamics and increasing the risk of accidents. To prevent this, specialized fluids are applied to remove existing ice and prevent further accumulation.
The de-icing fluids, typically made from glycol or propylene glycol, are heated and sprayed onto the aircraft before takeoff. This process is usually performed at the airport, where ground crews use de-icing trucks equipped with spray nozzles. Timely de-icing helps maintain safe flying conditions and ensures that flights can operate smoothly in adverse weather.
