Aircraft De-Icing
Aircraft de-icing is a crucial process that ensures the safety and performance of airplanes during winter weather. Ice and snow can accumulate on the wings, tail, and other surfaces, disrupting airflow and affecting lift. To prevent this, specialized fluids are applied to remove existing ice and prevent further accumulation.
The de-icing fluids, typically heated glycol-based solutions, work by melting ice and snow. After de-icing, a second layer of anti-icing fluid may be applied to protect the aircraft during takeoff. This process is essential for maintaining safe flight operations in cold conditions.
