Airborne Transmission
Airborne transmission refers to the spread of infectious agents through the air. This occurs when tiny droplets or particles containing pathogens are released into the atmosphere, often during activities like coughing, sneezing, or talking. These particles can remain suspended in the air for extended periods and can be inhaled by individuals who are not in close proximity to the infected person.
Diseases such as tuberculosis, measles, and COVID-19 can be transmitted through airborne routes. Preventive measures include proper ventilation, wearing masks, and maintaining physical distance to reduce the risk of inhaling these infectious particles.
