Air Wing
An "Air Wing" is a unit of military aircraft that operates under a specific command, typically within a naval or air force structure. It is responsible for various missions, including combat, reconnaissance, and support operations. Air wings can consist of different types of aircraft, such as fighter jets, bombers, and transport planes, and are often deployed on aircraft carriers or bases.
In the context of the United States Navy, an air wing is usually referred to as a Carrier Air Wing (CVW), which operates from aircraft carriers. Each air wing is composed of several squadrons, each specializing in different roles, ensuring a versatile and effective aerial capability during military operations.
