African ostrich
The African ostrich is the largest living bird, native to the savannas and open grasslands of Africa. It can reach heights of up to 9 feet and weigh between 220 to 350 pounds. Unlike most birds, ostriches cannot fly, but they are excellent runners, capable of reaching speeds up to 45 miles per hour.
These birds have long necks and legs, with a distinctive body covered in soft feathers. Their diet mainly consists of plants, seeds, and insects. African ostriches are social animals, often found in groups, and they play a significant role in their ecosystem by helping to control vegetation.
