African Wild Ass
The African Wild Ass is a subspecies of the donkey, native to the arid regions of northeastern Africa, particularly in Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia. It is characterized by its slender body, long legs, and large ears, which help it dissipate heat. This species has a light gray coat with darker stripes on its legs and a distinctive dorsal stripe along its back.
These animals are well-adapted to their harsh environment, relying on their keen sense of hearing and sight to detect predators. The African Wild Ass is currently classified as endangered due to habitat loss and competition with domestic livestock. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this unique species.
