African Giant Pouch Rat
The African Giant Pouch Rat, scientifically known as Cricetomys anselli, is a large rodent native to sub-Saharan Africa. These rats can weigh up to 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs) and measure about 60 cm (24 inches) in length, including their long tails. They are known for their distinctive cheek pouches, which they use to store food and transport it back to their burrows.
These rats are primarily nocturnal and are excellent climbers. They have a varied diet that includes fruits, seeds, and insects.
