Aerotowing
Aerotowing is a method used to launch gliders, where a powered aircraft, known as a tow plane, pulls the glider into the air. The tow plane is connected to the glider by a strong rope, allowing the glider to gain altitude quickly. Once the desired height is reached, the glider pilot releases the tow rope and begins to glide independently.
This technique is popular in gliding and soaring sports, as it provides an efficient way to reach high altitudes without the need for an onboard engine. Aerotowing is often preferred for its simplicity and effectiveness compared to other launch methods, such as winch launching.
