Adult Attachment Interview
The Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) is a structured interview designed to assess an individual's attachment style based on their childhood experiences with caregivers. Developed by psychologist Mary Main, the AAI explores how adults perceive and reflect on their early relationships, focusing on themes of security, anxiety, and avoidance.
During the interview, participants are asked to recount their childhood experiences and describe their relationships with their parents. The responses are then analyzed to categorize attachment styles into secure, anxious, or avoidant, providing insights into how these styles may influence current relationships and emotional well-being.
