Adrenal Glands
The adrenal glands are small, triangular-shaped organs located on top of each kidney. They play a crucial role in producing hormones that help regulate various bodily functions, including metabolism, immune response, and stress management. The glands consist of two main parts: the outer cortex and the inner medulla, each responsible for producing different hormones.
The adrenal cortex produces hormones like cortisol, which helps control blood sugar levels and manage stress, and aldosterone, which regulates blood pressure. The adrenal medulla produces adrenaline and noradrenaline, hormones that prepare the body for a "fight or flight" response during stressful situations.
