Active Protection System
An Active Protection System (APS) is a defensive technology designed to detect and neutralize incoming threats, such as missiles or projectiles, before they can hit a target. It typically uses sensors to identify threats and deploys countermeasures, like interceptors or jamming devices, to disrupt or destroy them.
APS is commonly used in military vehicles, such as tanks and armored personnel carriers, to enhance their survivability on the battlefield. By actively engaging threats, these systems provide an additional layer of protection, complementing traditional armor and defensive tactics employed by military forces like the U.S. Army or NATO.
