Achilles and the Tortoise
"Achilles and the Tortoise" is a famous paradox created by the ancient Greek philosopher Zeno of Elea. In this thought experiment, the swift warrior Achilles races against a slow-moving tortoise. To make the race fair, the tortoise is given a head start. Zeno argues that Achilles can never overtake the tortoise because whenever Achilles reaches the point where the tortoise was, the tortoise has moved a little further ahead.
This paradox illustrates the concept of infinite division, suggesting that there are always more points to cover, no matter how fast Achilles runs. It challenges our understanding of motion and distance, prompting discussions about the nature of infinity and the limits of perception in mathematics and philosophy.
