Abrahamic Family
The term "Abrahamic Family" refers to the collective grouping of three major world religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. These faiths are called "Abrahamic" because they trace their spiritual lineage back to the patriarch Abraham, a significant figure in all three traditions. Each religion shares common beliefs, values, and historical narratives, while also having distinct practices and teachings.
In 2019, the concept of the Abrahamic Family gained prominence with the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity by Pope Francis and Ahmed el-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. This document emphasizes the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence among the followers of these religions, promoting a vision of unity and understanding in a diverse world.
