Aberdare Mountains
The Aberdare Mountains are a mountain range located in central Kenya, part of the larger East African Rift. They rise to an elevation of about 3,999 meters (13,120 feet) at their highest peak, Mount Kinangop. The mountains are known for their rich biodiversity, including various species of flora and fauna, some of which are endemic to the region.
The range is also home to several important ecosystems, such as montane forests and moorlands. The Aberdare National Park, established in 1950, protects these habitats and provides a sanctuary for wildlife, including elephants, leopards, and numerous bird species. The mountains are a popular destination for hiking and wildlife viewing.
