Abducens Nerve
The Abducens Nerve, also known as Cranial Nerve VI, is one of the twelve pairs of cranial nerves in the human body. It primarily controls the lateral rectus muscle, which is responsible for moving the eye outward, away from the nose. This movement is essential for proper eye coordination and visual tracking.
Damage to the Abducens Nerve can lead to a condition called strabismus, where the eyes do not align properly, resulting in double vision. The nerve originates in the brainstem and travels to the orbit, making it crucial for maintaining normal eye movement and alignment.
