AONB
An AONB, or Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a designated area in the United Kingdom recognized for its significant landscape value. These areas are protected to conserve their natural beauty, wildlife, and cultural heritage. AONBs are managed by local authorities and conservation organizations, ensuring that development and land use are sustainable.
There are currently 46 AONBs in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, each showcasing unique landscapes and ecosystems. The designation helps promote tourism and outdoor activities while safeguarding the environment. Examples of AONBs include the Cotswolds and the Cornwall AONB, both popular destinations for visitors.
