ACORN
ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, was a community-based organization in the United States that focused on advocating for low- and moderate-income families. Founded in 1970, ACORN aimed to address issues such as affordable housing, voter registration, and workers' rights through grassroots organizing and community empowerment.
The organization gained national attention for its efforts in the 2000s, particularly in the areas of housing policy and voter advocacy. However, ACORN faced controversy and legal challenges, leading to its dissolution in 2010. Despite its closure, many of its local affiliates continue to operate under different names.
