A.V. Roe
A.V. Roe, officially known as A.V. Roe Canada Ltd., was a Canadian aircraft manufacturer founded in 1910 by Hugh A. McCurdy and James A. McCurdy. The company became known for producing a variety of aircraft, including military and civilian planes. It played a significant role in the development of aviation in Canada, particularly during and after World War II.
The company is perhaps best known for the Avro Arrow, a supersonic interceptor aircraft that was developed in the 1950s. Despite its advanced design and capabilities, the project was controversially canceled in 1959, leading to significant changes in the Canadian aerospace industry. A.V. Roe's legacy continues to influence aviation technology and engineering in Canada.
