A-40
The A-40, also known as the "A-40 Albatross," is a Soviet amphibious aircraft developed in the 1940s. Designed by the OKB-155 design bureau, it was intended for maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare. The aircraft features a distinctive flying boat design, allowing it to take off and land on water, making it suitable for operations over oceans and large bodies of water.
The A-40 is powered by four engines and has a wingspan of approximately 37 meters. It can carry various payloads, including torpedoes and depth charges, enhancing its versatility in military operations. Although it was never mass-produced, the A-40 remains an interesting example of Cold War aviation technology.
