8-track tape
The 8-track tape is a magnetic tape sound recording technology that was popular from the 1960s to the early 1980s. It consists of a continuous loop of tape housed in a plastic cartridge, allowing for easy playback in compatible players. The format was designed to provide a convenient way to listen to music without the need to flip or change tapes frequently.
Each 8-track tape contains four programs, or tracks, which can be played sequentially. This format was widely used in cars and home audio systems, making it a significant part of music culture during its peak. However, it eventually declined in favor of cassette tapes and compact discs.
