1969 Apollo 11 mission
The Apollo 11 mission, launched on July 16, 1969, was the first manned mission to land on the Moon. Astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins were part of this historic journey. The spacecraft consisted of the Command Module and the Lunar Module, which separated for the landing.
On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed the Lunar Module, named Eagle, on the Moon's surface. Armstrong became the first human to step onto the Moon, famously stating, "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind." The mission returned to Earth on July 24, 1969.
