1964 Winter Olympics
The 1964 Winter Olympics were held in Innsbruck, Austria, from January 29 to February 9. This was the second time Innsbruck hosted the Winter Games, having previously done so in 1933. A total of 1,091 athletes from 36 nations participated in various winter sports, including skiing, ice hockey, and figure skating.
The games featured 34 events across six sports. Notably, this was the first Winter Olympics to include snowboarding as a demonstration sport. The Soviet Union topped the medal table, winning a total of 25 medals, including 11 golds, while the host nation, Austria, secured 5 medals.
