16th Avenue Tiled Steps
The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps are a vibrant public art installation located in the Inner Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco. This stunning staircase features over 75,000 colorful tiles, showcasing intricate designs and patterns that reflect various cultural influences. The steps stretch for 163 steps, providing a unique visual experience for visitors.
Completed in 2005, the project was initiated by local residents and artists, including Aileen Barr and Colette Crutcher. The tiled steps not only serve as a beautiful landmark but also connect the Golden Gate Park area to the Pacific Ocean, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
