金鯱
"金鯱" (Kinshachi) is a mythical creature resembling a golden fish or carp, often depicted with a lion-like head. It is a symbol of protection and good fortune in Japanese culture. Kinshachi are commonly associated with water and are believed to ward off disasters, especially in relation to fire.
In Japan, the most famous representation of 金鯱 is found on the roof of Nagoya Castle, where two golden Kinshachi statues are placed. These statues not only serve as decorative elements but also represent the castle's strength and resilience. The Kinshachi has become an iconic symbol of the city of Nagoya.
