舞妓
舞妓 (Maiko) are apprentice geisha in Japan, primarily found in the historic districts of Kyoto. They are known for their elaborate traditional attire, which includes colorful kimonos, obis (sashes), and distinctive hairstyles adorned with various hairpieces. Maiko typically begin their training in their teenage years and learn various arts, including dance, music, and tea ceremony.
The role of a Maiko is to entertain guests through performances and conversation. They often work in tea houses, where they engage in traditional Japanese arts and provide a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of geisha and Kyoto. Their training lasts several years before they graduate to become full-fledged geisha.
