羲和
羲和 (Xīhé) is a figure from Chinese mythology, often associated with the sun. She is depicted as a goddess who drives the sun chariot across the sky, illuminating the world. Her role emphasizes the importance of the sun in agriculture and daily life, symbolizing warmth and growth.
In some legends, 羲和 is the mother of the ten suns, which were said to rise together, causing great suffering due to excessive heat. To restore balance, the archer 后羿 shot down nine of the suns, leaving only one to provide light and warmth. This story highlights the relationship between nature and humanity in Chinese culture.
