第二神殿
第二神殿, or the Second Temple, was a significant religious structure in ancient Jerusalem. It was built around 516 BCE, following the return of the Jewish people from Babylonian exile. This temple replaced the First Temple, which had been destroyed by the Babylonians. The Second Temple served as the center of Jewish worship and was expanded by King Herod in the 1st century BCE.
The Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE during the Siege of Jerusalem. Its destruction marked a pivotal moment in Jewish history, leading to the dispersion of the Jewish people and significant changes in their religious practices. Today, the site of the Second Temple is home to the 西墙 (Western Wall), a sacred place for Jewish prayer and reflection.
