相扑
相扑, or sumo, is a traditional Japanese sport where two wrestlers, known as rikishi, compete in a circular ring called a dohyo. The objective is to force the opponent out of the ring or to make any part of their body, other than the soles of their feet, touch the ground. Sumo matches are often preceded by rituals, including the throwing of salt to purify the ring.
Sumo has deep cultural significance in Japan, with roots tracing back over a thousand years. Wrestlers wear a mawashi, a belt-like garment, and follow strict training regimens. Tournaments, known as basho, are held several times a year, attracting large audiences and showcasing the skill and strength of the competitors.
