玉兎 (Moon)
The term "玉兎" (Yùtù), meaning "Jade Rabbit," refers to a mythical creature in Chinese folklore that is said to live on the moon. According to legend, the Jade Rabbit is often depicted as a companion to the moon goddess 嫦娥 (Cháng'é). It is believed to be busy making 月饼 (yuèbǐng), or mooncakes, which are traditionally eaten during the 中秋节 (Zhōngqiū Jié), or Mid-Autumn Festival.
In Chinese culture, the Jade Rabbit symbolizes selflessness and sacrifice. The story goes that the rabbit offered itself as food to a hungry traveler, who later revealed himself to be a deity. As a reward, the rabbit was sent to the moon, where it continues to live, embodying themes of compassion and loyalty in Chinese mythology.
