小乗仏教
小乗仏教 (しょうじょうぶっきょう), or "Theravada Buddhism," is one of the oldest forms of Buddhism. It emphasizes individual enlightenment and the importance of personal practice. Followers aim to achieve Nirvana through meditation, ethical conduct, and wisdom, often studying the teachings of the Buddha as recorded in the Pali Canon.
This tradition is primarily practiced in countries like Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Myanmar. Unlike Mahayana Buddhism, which focuses on the collective salvation of all beings, 小乗仏教 stresses the path of the solitary monk. Its teachings encourage followers to cultivate mindfulness and compassion in their daily lives.
