大相撲
大相撲 (Dai-Sumo) is a traditional Japanese sport that features large wrestlers, known as 力士 (rikishi), competing in a circular ring called a 土俵 (dohyō). The objective is to force an opponent out of the ring or to make them touch the ground with any part of their body other than the soles of their feet. Sumo matches are steeped in ritual and tradition, often accompanied by ceremonial elements like 神道 (Shinto) rituals.
The sport has six official tournaments each year, held in various cities across Japan. Each tournament lasts for 15 days, and wrestlers are ranked based on their performance. The highest rank is 横綱 (yokozuna), which is awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional skill and consistency. Sumo is not just a sport; it is a significant part of Japanese culture and heritage.
