موآي
موآي is a term that refers to the large stone statues found on Easter Island, known for their oversized heads and unique features. These statues, called moai, were created by the Rapa Nui people between 1400 and 1650 CE. They are believed to represent ancestors and were placed on stone platforms called ahu to honor them.
The moai vary in size, with some standing over 30 feet tall and weighing several tons. Made primarily from volcanic tuff, they showcase the artistry and engineering skills of the Rapa Nui. Today, these statues are a significant cultural symbol and attract many tourists to Easter Island.
