ماعت
ماعت is an ancient Egyptian concept that represents truth, balance, order, and justice. It is often personified as a goddess who embodies these principles, ensuring harmony in the universe. The concept was central to Egyptian society, influencing their laws, ethics, and daily life.
In the afterlife, the dead were judged against ماعت to determine their fate. This judgment involved weighing the heart of the deceased against a feather, symbolizing ماعت. If the heart was lighter, the individual was deemed worthy of entering the afterlife; if heavier, they faced dire consequences.
