جان-فرانسوا شامبليون
جان-فرانسوا شامبليون (Jean-François Champollion) was a French scholar and linguist, best known for deciphering the ancient Egyptian script known as hieroglyphs. Born in 1790, he dedicated his life to studying languages and ancient cultures, ultimately unlocking the secrets of Egyptian writing.
His breakthrough came in 1822 when he announced that he had successfully translated the Rosetta Stone, a key artifact that contained inscriptions in three scripts: Greek, Demotic, and hieroglyphs. This achievement laid the foundation for modern Egyptology and significantly advanced our understanding of ancient Egyptian civilization.
