Сукре, or Sucre, is the constitutional capital of Bolivia. It is located in the south-central part of the country and is known for its well-preserved colonial architecture. The city was founded in 1538 and named after Antonio José de Sucre, a key figure in Bolivia's independence.
The city is also recognized for its rich cultural heritage and is home to several universities. Sucre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its historical significance and beautiful plazas, such as Plaza 25 de Mayo, which is the central square and a popular gathering place for locals and tourists alike.
