Повесть временных лет
"Повесть временных лет" (The Tale of Bygone Years) is a historical chronicle written in the early 12th century. It is considered one of the most important sources of early East Slavic history, detailing the origins of the Rus' people and the formation of the Kievan Rus' state. The chronicle was authored by Nestor, a monk from the Kyiv Monastery of the Caves. It covers events from the legendary founding of Kyiv in 482 to the year 1110.
