Дария I, also known as Darius the Great, was a king of the Achaemenid Empire who ruled from 522 to 486 BCE. He is best known for his administrative reforms, which helped to organize the vast empire into manageable provinces called satrapies. His reign marked a period of stability and prosperity, as he improved infrastructure, including roads and the famous Royal Road.
