Σειρήνα (Siren)
The term "Σειρήνα" (Siren) refers to creatures from Greek mythology known for their enchanting music and singing. They are often depicted as beautiful women who lured sailors to their doom on rocky shores. The Sirens' songs were irresistible, causing sailors to steer their ships off course and crash.
In literature, the Sirens are famously featured in Homer's epic poem, the Odyssey. In this story, the hero Odysseus encounters the Sirens and, aware of their dangerous allure, has his crew plug their ears with beeswax while he listens to their song, tied to the mast of the ship to resist temptation.
