Βουντού
Βουντού, or Voodoo, is a spiritual and religious practice that originated in West Africa and was brought to the Americas through the transatlantic slave trade. It combines elements of African traditions, Catholicism, and indigenous beliefs. Practitioners, known as Vodouists, believe in a supreme being and a pantheon of spirits called Loa, who guide and protect them.
In Haiti, where Βουντού is most commonly practiced, it plays a significant role in the culture and community. Rituals often involve music, dance, and offerings to the Loa, aiming to establish a connection with the spiritual world. Despite misconceptions, Βουντού is not inherently malevolent; it is a complex and rich tradition focused on healing and community.
