Ατρέα
Ατρέα, or Atreus, is a figure from Greek mythology, known as the son of Pelops and Hippodamia. He is often associated with the House of Atreus, a royal family in ancient Greece that is infamous for its tragic and violent history. Atreus is best known for his role in the myth of the cursed family, which includes themes of betrayal and revenge.
Atreus became king of Mycenae and is famous for his conflict with his brother, Thyestes. In a bid for power, Atreus killed Thyestes' sons and served them to him as a meal, a gruesome act that led to further cycles of vengeance within the family. This story is part of the larger narrative of the House of Atreus, which includes notable figures like Agamemnon and Orestes.
