{General Cornwallis
General Cornwallis was a British Army officer and colonial administrator known for his role during the American Revolutionary War. Born in 1738, he served in various military campaigns and became a prominent figure in the conflict against the American colonies. His leadership was marked by significant battles, including the defeat at the Siege of Yorktown in 1781, which effectively ended British hopes of retaining control over the colonies.
After the war, Cornwallis was appointed Governor-General of India, where he implemented reforms and worked to improve the administration of British territories. He returned to Britain in 1793 and continued to serve in various military and political roles until his death in 1805.
