メアリー・シェリー was an English novelist best known for her groundbreaking work, フランケンシュタイン, published in 1818. Born on August 30, 1797, she was the daughter of feminist writer メアリー・ウルストンクラフト and political philosopher ウィリアム・ゴドウィン. Her novel explores themes of creation, responsibility, and the consequences of scientific ambition.
In addition to フランケンシュタイン, メアリー・シェリー wrote several other novels, short stories, and essays. She was a prominent figure in the Romantic literary movement and was married to the famous poet パーシー・ビッシュ・シェリー. Her works continue to influence literature and popular culture today.
